Special Events

Because special events are, by definition, special, all my events are sensory-rich, multi-media experiences to help you eat mindfully, treat yourself kindly and see your way clear to lasting change. Attend one of my workshops, lectures or trainings, and you can expect I’ll share my experience and expertise in self-compassion for eating issues. If you set aside other expectations and open yourself to the experience, there’s no predicting what will move you toward the long-awaited realization that yes, you can positively change your ways. Seeing is believing, or so the saying goes. Beyond seeing and believing, it’s experiencing that makes all the difference. Attend one of my upcoming events and experience what I mean.

Coming Events

Mindful Eating Support Group / Online Training / Date to Come

This eight-session training offers ongoing support in mindful eating, self-compassion, self-acceptance and sustainable change. Rather than sticking to a syllabus, the every-other-week sessions are inspired by the groups’ interests and concerns. Each 90-minute session is a medley of mini-lectures, guided practices and group discussion. Homework, too.  If you could use group support come 2021, send me an email today.

Past Events

Treating Eating Disorders with Loving-Kindness / December 14, 2020 / Tufts University

The ancient meditative principle of self-compassion is an invaluable addition to standard psychological treatments for eating disorders. After defining terms and reviewing the scientific literature on self-compassion for disordered eating, participants will learn how to put the scientific findings to good therapeutic use. Plus, try a tried-and-true guided practice.

Self-Compassion Workshop / November 4-8, 2019 / Hilton Head, South Carolina

Attend this week-long practice program at Hilton Head Health and learn to transform the way you think and feel about food and your whole self – a shift that, paradoxically, inspires lasting physical change. Combining self-compassion, mindful eating and other unique strategies, this inspiring workshop will leave you feeling renewed and empowered.

Self-Compassion Workshop/ January 11-13, 2019 /Concord, Massachusetts

Weekend workshop in overcoming overeating for everyone, everywhere struggling with problematic eating, from mindless eating and yo-yo dieting to compulsive overeating and binge eating. This 2.5-day workshop teaches you how to curb overeating, feel your hunger, trust your taste-buds and become deeply satisfied with the quality, rather than the quantity of food – all of which frees you from the ball and chain of dietary restriction and rebound weight gain.

Treating The Addictions / March 2-3, 2018/ Boston, Massachusetts

The scientific jury is still out on whether food is a bonafide addiction, and yet people who struggle with food consumption have much in common with those who wrestle with alcohol intake, cocaine use and gambling habits. They’re trapped in a vicious and shameful cycle of restriction and uninhibited behavior, and they feel powerless to break free. That is, until they learn to have a little self-compassion. That’s what the research says, that’s what clients say, and that’s what Harvard Medical School conference-goers say after reviewing key studies and proven strategies for cultivating self-compassion.
